ABOUT PUBLIC HEALTH ADVOCACY NEPAL
Prevention. Promotion. With Research and Innovation
Public Health Advocacy Nepal (PHAN) is a youth‑led public health initiative founded in 2017 to strengthen community health and promote preventive medicine across Nepal. Rooted in a bottom‑up, community‑driven approach, PHAN empowers young people, local health workers, and grassroots communities to lead meaningful change through research, innovation, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship. Over time, this movement expanded globally as Public Health Advocacy Global, extending its vision and impact beyond Nepal.
PHAN was established to promote public health through creative, evidence‑based solutions and to provide a platform for meaningful youth engagement in health promotion, disease prevention, and grassroots socio‑economic development. Our work prioritizes highly vulnerable rural communities, helping bring them into the mainstream of national development by improving health literacy, strengthening local systems, and amplifying community voices.
Today, PHAN’s initiatives span maternal and child health, child nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, environmental health, women’s health literacy for gender equality, disaster preparedness, humanitarian response, and volunteer mobilization. Through collaborative action and a commitment to equity, PHAN continues to build informed, resilient communities and champion a healthier, more inclusive future for Nepal—and now, through its global sister organization, for communities worldwide.
